The year 2008 is the year of wonderful anime. I am lucky to have anticipated and followed most of the series, unlike in 2007 where I was left choosing just a few anime series to watch due to Internet problems. Three of my favorite manga series were turned to TV series this year (Special A, Skip Beat, Junjou Romantica). Two of the anime I followed in 2007 were given sequels (Code Geass, Gundam 00). 2008 is truly a blessed year with anime releases of all genre.
As with last year, I’m giving a list of the anime shown in 2008 that left me a good impression. These are series I’d love to watch all over again. I did not include season continuation (xxxHolic kei, Code Geass, Gundam 00), but I include a runner-up list because I am one indecisive person :D. This is in no particular order.
This is my most awaited release this fall, exceeding my excitement for Special A last time. Since I was a bit disappointed by Special A’s changes in plot and not-so-great art, I had been praying hard that they don’t murder Skip Beat, one of the best and crackiest shoujo manga I’ve ever read. I’m glad that at episode 1, I am very impressed and totally wanting more.
The elusive trailer of the anime Skip Beat has finally appeared, a week before it airs ^^;. However, this is the Taiwanese release version of the PV (hence the subs). WTF Japan? Why won’t you give us a trailer?

Hm, I cannot say anything against the character designs. Of course, the manga as the original work, will always be better, but I appreciate that the character designs are made as close to the manga ones as possible. Wait, I can’t say that since I haven’t even seen Ren moving yet xD;. Anyway, so far, the art doesn’t disappoint me. I just hope it’s not full of no-face people like in Vampire Knight XD;.
Inoue Marina is doing a great job as Kyoko XD;. Her voice seems versatile, which is important in voicing Kyoko (very, very important). Mamo-chan has my trust. I know he can do Shou justice and crack. Konishi, though, still has my doubts. I’ve been brainwashed to think Morikawa Toshiyuki = Ren, so until I hear the real thing, I will not talk about Ren XD;.
